PESHAWAR: Two sentenced to death

PESHAWAR, Oct 7: Additional district and sessions judge Sardar  Mohammad Irshad has sentenced two persons to death for the murder of a spiritual leader, Pir Roohullah Shah, in a courtroom five years ago.

The judge pronounced the verdict inside the central prison due to the enmity between the two groups, which has claimed a number of lives.

He imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the accused — Raza Shah of Wazirdhand, Khyber Agency, and Farhad of Charsadda.

Pir Roohullah was killed inside the court of a senior civil judge on July 11, 1998.

The accused, Farhad, stated to be a hired assassin, was caught red-handed.

The driver of the deceased, Sikander Shah, was the complainant in the case and the FIR was registered with the East Cantt police station.—Bureau
