Transporters charge high fares

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 23: Transporters are charging old tariff from the commuters for the inter-city routes despite the revision of fares by the local governments of Abbottabad and Haripur.

In joint meetings of the transporters, traffic police and members of the transport committees of the Abbottabad and Haripur local governments the fares of inter-city routes have been revized recently.

In the meeting held at Abbottabad, fares from Abbottabad to Mansehra, Haripur, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar and other parts of the country were reduced but 15 days have passed, but the transporters had not reduced the fares and were charging at the old rates despite sufficient reduction in petroleum prices.

Citizens have asked the concerned authorities to take strict action against the transporters to immediately enforce the new tariff on inter-city routes.
