Sindh apex committee reviews implementation of National Action Plan

KARACHI: The Sindh apex committee meeting on Thursday, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, reviewed the implementation of decisions taken earlier regarding the ongoing security operation in Karachi and the National Action Plan (NAP).

Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar briefed the committee on the ongoing security operation in the metropolis.

The committee was told that a detailed report will be submitted to Sindh government in 15 days regarding the implementation of decisions taken in previous apex committee meetings.

Sindh Secretary Interior Mukhtar Soomro was asked to provide reasons for delay in the implementation of earlier decisions taken by the Sindh apex committee.

Details were also sought on action taken against banned organisations operating in the premises of metropolis.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon later briefed the media about the proceedings of apex committee meeting.

He said that during the meeting it was discussed to throttle the sources of terror financing and the committee decided to take stern actions against such channels.

Sharjeel mentioned that police and Rangers have taken action against miscreant elements throughout the city and have apprehended major criminal elements.

The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Minister Interior Sindh Suhail Anwar Siyal and other senior Sindh government officials.

The meeting resolved to carry the operation forward with more vigour, intensity and to consolidate the gains that have been made.
