TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 4: Owners of medical stores observed a complete strike on the call of the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association here on Saturday.

Patients and their relatives suffered the most as they had to travel to other towns to bring medicines.

The strike call was given by the association to protest against the alleged blackmailing by two so-called journalists.

Medical store owners alleged the ‘journalists’ demanded ‘monthly’ from them, and on their refusal, they threatened to implicate them in fake cases.

The protesters took out a rally and reached the offices of the DCO and DPO after marching through various roads. They also chanted slogans against the blackmailers and the yellow journalism.

An association spokesman told newsmen that various vested interest elements and criminals had obtained the journalists’ cards from dummy newspapers against the nominal payment.

He alleged such unscrupulous elements had the support of the district nazim and the DCO. He warned that the strike would be extended to other towns if the so-called journalists were not arrested immediately

CASE: Arrouti police on Saturday registered a case against three persons for allegedly kidnapping and killing a youth in Mouza Joosa near Pirmahal.

Police said that Noor Muhammad, Shakoor and Afzal had kidnapped their relative, Yousaf, over the dispute of watta satta. His body could not be recovered till the filing of this report.
