GUJRANWALA, Oct 4: The Kasur district police officer has completed his investigation of the Sialkot jail incident and forwarded the chargesheet to the Sialkot district attorney for submission to the court.
The investigating officer, DPO Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar, recorded his statement with the Anti-Terrorism Court-1 here on Saturday.
The judge, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, directed the investigating officer that chargesheet of the case should be produced before the court on the next hearing on Oct 8.
Former Sialkot jail superintendent Sikandar Hayat and other accused were present in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, an official revealed on the condition of anonymity that former Sialkot jail deputy superintendent Malik Iftikhar Ahmad, inspector Zulfikar Ali Virk and Shahid alias Kala, brother of notorious proclaimed offender Muhammad Ishaq, were responsible for the incident. The former deputy jail superintendent was accused of links with the POs, Shahid supplied arms inside the jail while the inspector had allegedly directed the officials to fire at the brawlers, as a result of which four judges and POs were killed. He said that the former jail superintendent, his staff and some police officers were accused of negligence.
POULTRY FARMERS: The poultry farmers have expressed their resentment against government’s failure to provide better facilities to them despite payment of taxes.
Speaking at a meeting of their association here on Saturday, which was presided over by its president Sajjad Ahmad Rana, the participants said that the district poultry industry was producing three million chickens and one million eggs every month and comprised two mills and a dozen major units.
They pointed out that the livestock department had established a poultry production office at city’s veterinary hospital, which had only three poultry doctors for the whole district. They said there was no poultry laboratory in the district while poultry medicines were also not available.
They said that veterinary doctors should be inducted in hospitals in all tehsil headquarters and towns of the district.
