ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: Punjab Science Professors Association (PSPA) has demanded of the provincial government to provide half Ph.D allowance to the professors having M.Phil degree to encourage research activities.

The demand was made at the association’s meeting held on Sunday. The PSPA office bearers said M.Phil degree was given after two years of M.A and M.Sc, whereas the Ph.D degree required three years. Therefore, they urged the government to provide monetary assistance to the M.Phil teachers to facilitate their research work.

The meeting also demanded science allowance for college professors. The participants lamented that science teachers at the schools level had been receiving the allowance since 1980, but the science professors of colleges were still deprived of this facility.

They said very few Ph.D professors were teaching at college level. In this connection, the meeting demanded of the government to provide opportunities of receiving Ph.D scholarships to the professors from international universities.
