Nigerian with 7.5kg heroin held

LAHORE, Oct 3: The anti-smuggling wing of customs claimed on Friday to have arrested a foreigner and recovered 7.5kg superior quality heroin worth Rs10 million in international market.

Customs additional collector Junaid Akram got information that a big drug consignment was being smuggled to Muscat. He along with inspector Asif Nawaz rushed to Lahore airport.

The muscat bound flight (GF-769) was intercepted and its passengers were off-loaded. A search of all suspects and their luggage provided nothing to the team and Lahore Customs collector Raza Baqir had to reach there as the additional collector was not ready to accept that his information was wrong.

Finally, said the customs officials, some surgical equipment of a Nigerian, Joseph Sunda, were searched. They had to broke the equipment to find the drug. Heroin hidden in the equipment was seized and the foreigner was taken into custody.
