Bid to hijack PPP’s name to be resisted

LAHORE, Oct 2: The PPP has vowed to resist any move for adopting the name of the party and registering it with the Election Commission by any individual or group except the Bhutto family.

Briefing reporters about the decisions of the Punjab PPP executive committee which met here on Thursday, provincial information secretary Naveed Chaudhry said party workers had been directed to besiege the elements who wanted to “hijack” the PPP name.

He alleged that the Rangers director-general had again been given the task to find more turncoats among the opposition parties, but hoped that the MPs would foil any such attempt.

He also chided the committees formed on a direction of the Punjab chief minister for reorganizing the PML-Q at grassroots level. He wondered that the provincial government was now offering cash prizes out of public kitty to organize a political party.
