KARACHI, Sept 30: KCCA Zone-IV, Zone-I and Zone-V obtained first innings’ points after their respective two-day matches in the PCB Inter-district cricket tournament ended on Tuesday without producing conclusive results.
Zone-IV batted consistently to take a handy lead of 84 runs against Zone-III at the Asifabad Sports Ground. Resuming at the overnight score of 110 without loss in reply to Zone-III’s 280, Zone-IV finished at 364 for nine in their allotted 90 overs.
Farhan Adil, the Test batsman, top-scored with 66. Azam Hussain chipped in with 56 while Mohammad Ali Zafar ended up with an unbeaten 55. Openers Khurram Manzoor (61) and Khalid Latif (40) earlier extended their partnership to 123.
Slow left-armer Abdul Qadir captured six for 107 in 32 overs.
Zone-II batted out the remaining time to score 68 for one in their second innings.
Wasim Naeem (60) and Arif Mahmood (50) played major innings for Zone-I who took a first innings lead of 93 over Zone-II after reaching 270 for six in 90 overs at the TMC Ground.
Zone-II reached 57 for no wicket when the match ended.
Zone-V, meanwhile, gained a 55-run lead after bowling out Zone-VI for 175 in their first innings with left-arm pacer Malik Aftab taking four for 43 with slow left-armer Zeeshan Aziz and leg-spinner Anis Shaikh claiming three wickets apiece.
Zone-V closed at 81 for four in their second innings.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Islamabad: Rawalpindi, Attock and Azad Jammu Kashmir all picked up three first innings points after drawing their respective matches.
At the Shalimar Ground, Rawalpindi who were 85 for three overnight, put on 189 in reply to Islamabad’s first innings total of 152. Sohail Nasir with an innings of 93 not out was the top scorer.
After conceding a lead of 37 runs, Islamabad were 105 for three when play ended, Asher Zaidi hitting 42 and Raheel Majeed collecting 36 runs.
Attock, helped by a knock of 42 by Qaiser Jamil and Nadeem Sikander’s 40 runs were able to score 172 in their second innings against Chakwal. Shahjahan, who had five wickets in the first innings, grabbed another four for 48 while Akhtar Abbas had three for 43.
Chakwal were 128 for seven at the finish, Sohail Rukhsar being the top run-getter with 37. The wickets went to Nusrat Khan who claimed three for 22 and Adnan Ghani who chipped in with 2- 35.
In another match at the Army Cricket Ground, Azad Jammu Kashmir forced Jhelum to follow on after having scored a massive 361 on the first day.
Jhelum could score just 103 in their first innings and following on had collected 131 for two in 49 overs when the match ended.
