No commerce college in Toba Tek Singh

TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 29: A number of students of Toba district are forced to travel to Faisalabad or Jhang as there is no government or private commerce college in the district.

A private college was given affiliation by the Punjab University last year to start B.Com classes. But this year when a university committee inspected the college, it found that the college did not fulfil the conditions thus its affiliation was cancelled.

A reliable source said all government commercial training institutes of the district were willing to get affiliation to start B.Com classes but they did not fulfil conditions of the university.

He said similar was the situation in many other districts where there were no commerce colleges.

He said of 54 colleges, 15 government and 39 private, which were given affiliation to start B.Com classes this academic year in the Punjab and

federal capital by the Punjab University, two were in Gujranwala, five in Gujrat, four in Faisalabad, one in Jauharabad (Khushab), one in Mandi Bahauddin, five in Rawalpindi, four in Sargodha, four in Sialkot, one in Sheikhupura and one in Jhang.

The parents and students, meanwhile, urged the chief minister to direct the university to give affiliation to all government commercial training institutes and commerce colleges of the district to start B.Com classes.
