MIRPUR (AJK), Sept 27: Three civilians were wounded as Indian troops shelled from across the Line of Control (LoC) on various villages in Khuiratta and Fatehpur Thakiala sectors in Kotli District of Azad Kashmir late Friday, police said.
The Indian shelling started late Friday evening on village Quli in Fatehpur Thakiala sector and Seiri in Khuiratta sector of Azad Kashmir without any provocation, Superintendent Police Kotli Raja Mohammad Razaq Khan told APP on Saturday.
Two of the injured have been admitted to District Hospital Kotli and one of them was rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Nikayal.
The Indians, using mortars and medium artillery, targeted the village Seiri in Khuiratta sector along the LoC, the district police chief said, adding that the Indian firing resulted in serious wounding of a one-year-old infant Omer Hayat son of Waris and his mother Ruqaya Begum wife of Waris Khan, 40.
Another civilian identified as Mohammad Nissar Khan sustained serious wounds in village Quli, adjacent to the LoC.
