SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 26: On the directions of the district and sessions judge, a local civil judge retrieved a stolen car from the possession of a Saddar ASI.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, DSJ Khan Talib Hussain Baloch said that unidentified robbers had snatched the car (LRG-6811) from Haji Mushtaq Khokar of Sato Katla, Lahore. The car was, however, recovered by the ASI sometime back. Instead of informing the concerned quarters in Lahore for its onward delivery to the owner, the ASI was using the vehicle himself.

The DSJ said that on receiving information he deputed civil judge Wajid Mughal to probe into the matter. After investigation, the DSJ said the vehicle was recovered from the ASI.

After his press conference, the DSJ handed over the keys of the vehicle to its owner in the presence of journalists.

However, the name of the ASI was not revealed for some unknown reasons.

The Lahore High Court has recently directed the district and sessions judges across the Punjab that the stolen vehicles being used by police officials should be recovered and handed over to their owners. — Correspondent
