Plea against Laleka transferred

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 25: The chief election commissioner (CEC) has ordered transfer of the hearing of Dr Ehsan Bari’s petition filed against Federal Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Minister Mian Abdul Sattar Laleka with Justice Syed Jamshed Ali Shah at the LHC’s principal seat.

This was disclosed by Mr Laleka’s counsel during the hearing of the petition before the election tribunal, headed by Justice Sakhi Husain Bokhari of the LHC, Bahawalpur bench.

He informed the election tribunal that the CEC had accepted the respondent’s plea and issued these orders in Islamabad on Sept 23. The next hearing of the case will be held in Lahore.

During the Thursday’s hearing, the petitioner’s counsel said Mr Laleka should be fined Rs10,000 for not submitting his reply to the petition against his graduation degree.

HRCP: A Human Rights Commission of Pakistan delegation visited Chak 55-DB near Yazman on Thursday to find facts about the incident of rape case attempt against three girls belonging to the minority community.

The team met the families of the victims and police officials at Yazman. They stated that the minority members were scared, and urged the local administration and police to provide them protection.

The Yazman police officials also apprised the delegation of the efforts being put up to arrest the accused. District Police Officer Sikandar Hayat had penalized 21 police officials for negligence, they added.

PETITION ACCEPTED: Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali of the Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur bench, while accepting a writ petition of Faizul Hassan, ordered his admission to the Shaikh Zayed Medical College in Rahim Yar Khan.

The petitioner had challenged the college principal’s refusal to admit him to the institute because he was hard of hearing. He, however, qualified the entrance test.
