LAHORE, Sept 24: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that no resignation of MPAs from Hafizabad has yet been received by the Punjab Assembly speaker.

He told reporters after a prize distribution ceremony for position holders in the matriculation examination at Alhamra here on Tuesday that the government was giving due importance to every MPA.

He said the legislators who had claimed to resign were the fathers of a minister and a parliamentary secretary.

The CM, however, said the government would not bow to any pressure tactics.

About police action against the MPAs while they were celebrating their victory in elections, he said the problems would increase when legislators take law in their hands.

Mr Elahi said he had visited different districts during the last 10 months and tried to solve problems. The government would also give priority to the neglected areas in the province.

About government’s support for a candidate other than the PML-Q, he said the PML-Q had lost election only in Pattoki and won everywhere else.
