PTI issues notice to MPA for violating policy on Senate polls

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) issued on Sunday a show-cause notice to one of its MPA's in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on the charge of violating party policy regarding the Senate elections.

“The PTI leadership has served a show-cause notice on Javed Nasim, MPA of provincial assembly in KP, for his blatant defiance of the party lines over the upcoming Senate elections,” said a statement issued by the party's Central Media Cell.

The PTI issued a show-cause notice to Nasim for sponsoring a non-PTI candidate for the Senate from KP under Section 7 of the Political Parties Order 2002 and the PTI constitution.

The party leadership has asked Nasim to respond within 24 hours, failing which he will stand expelled from the party.

The notice was issued by Dr Shireen Mazari, the PTI Central Information Secretary.

Despite repeated attempts, Nasim could not be reached for his comments. The MPA was elected from Peshawar on a PTI ticket in the general elections of 2013.

The government has drafted an amendment bill to bring crucial changes to the Constitution in a bid to hold the upcoming elections to 52 Senate seats in a manner that will end the “undemocratic practice of horse-trading”.

Three new amendments are being considered to allow changes in existing procedures and rules for conducting election for senate seats. The proposed act will be called the Constitution (22nd Amendment) Act, 2015.
