LAHORE, Sept 21: Only 2 per cent of 16,000 information technology graduates qualifying in the country every year get proper employment be-cause of obsolete education syllabi being taught in the universities.
This was stated by information technology industry expert and Mentor Graphics president Greg K. Hinckely and Accelerated Technology Director Syed Hussain Gilani on Sunday while speaking at a press conference here on Sunday.
They are on a six-day visit to Pakistan for exploring the possibilities of investment in IT industry and introduction of teaching of latest information technology studies in the leading universities.
They said that IT syllabi being taught in the universities were so obsolete that even the top students graduating from there had to be trained for understanding the latest technology.
The technology being used by companies like Nokia, Siemens, Samsung, Motorola and IBM was not being taught at any university in the country.
Former federal minister Syed Munir Hussain Gilani said that Greg Hinckley and other foreign investors were reluctant to come to Pakistan because of security reasons.
He said that Hinckley, too, favoured India before coming to Pakistan but his point of view had changed after arrival here.
