PESHAWAR: Women moot on Oct 4

PESHAWAR, Sept 21: Arrangements for holding an international conference of women on Oct 4 here were reviewed at a meeting held here on Saturday.

About 60 delegates of the International Muslim Women Union (IMWU) from 40 countries, women legislators, representatives of women welfare organizations, doctors, professors, councillors and heads of girls colleges will attend the conference.

The meeting presided over by provincial minister for social welfare and women development, Hafiz Hashmat Khan, was attended by MNAs Shabbir Ahmad Khan and Razia Aziz, MPAs Shagufta Naz and Zubaida Iqbal,  Peshawar  District  Nazim  Azam  Afridi,  secretary administration Ghulam Hussain, officers of chief minister’s  secretariat,  information,  social  welfare  and administrative departments.

The IMWU delegation is scheduled to visit Pakistan  in connection with a peace conference to be held in Islamabad from Sept 30 to Oct 7.

The open session will be held in Nishtar Hall in Peshawar on Oct 4. The NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani will be the chief guest on this occasion.—Bureau
