RAWALPINDI, Sept 16: Scores of workers and supporters of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday against what they termed government’s failed foreign policy.

The protest was organized on the call of JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad against the statements of Foreign Minister Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri and Pakistani’s ambassador to the US Ashraf Jehangir Qazi.

Mr Kasuri had proposed that Saarc countries should deploy joint troops in the occupied Kashmir while Mr Qazi had reportedly written ‘Dominion of Pakistan’ instead of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on an invitation card.

The local JI leaders said the foreign minister and the ambassador had failed to truly represent the country and they should resign or the government should sack them.

JI local chief Mohammad Abbas Butt, Dr Mohammad Kamal, Mohammad Hanif Chaudhary, Munir Ahmad, president Shabab-i-Milli Syed Shahid Pervez, Raza Ahmad Shah and others were present.

They said by putting forward such a proposal, the foreign minister had deviated from Pakistan’s principled stand on the issue of Kashmir.
