Man held on human trafficking charges

FAISALABAD, Sept 16: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a man on charges of human-trafficking and extorting money from people on the pretext of sending them abroad for employment.

Deputy Director Rana Iqbal told newsmen here on Tuesday that after receiving dozens of applications against one Shaukat Ali, a special team rounded him up.

It was found out during preliminary investigation that the accused was part of an organized gang of human-traffickers. Bogus certificates were prepared on an international network to dodge the local agencies.

The accused confessed to have received Rs1.4 million from Younas, Akram, Shamshad, Akbar, Ashraf, Siddiq, Munir, Amin, Khalid and Nisar for sending them abroad for employment.

Meanwhile, the local FIA authorities arrested one Latif, on charges of receiving Rs95,000 from a youth, Kashif, for sending him to Spain.
