PESHAWAR, Sept 15: Two judges of accountability courts here have completed their three-year term and they ceased to perform as presiding officers of accountability court.

It is learnt that the Peshawar High Court has assigned their cases to the remaining two judges of the accountability courts.

The judge of accountability court No 3, Syed Yahya Zahid Gillani, and that of accountability court No. 4, Miftauddin Khan, completed their terms on Sept 11 and Sept 14 respectively.

After the completion of their term they informed the high court about the development. The high court has now assigned the cases of Syed Yahya Zahid Gillani to the judge of accountability court No. 1, Said Maroof Khan, and the work of Miftauddin Khan has been assigned to judge of court No. 2, Saleem Khan.

In Peshawar, four accountability courts have been functioning for the NWFP. Last year two of the judges, Said Maroof Khan and Attaullah Khan, completed their term. For few months the posts remained vacant and the cases pending in those courts continued to linger on. Finally, the federal government extended the tenure of Said Maroof Khan, and appointed Saleem Khan as the judge of accountability court No. 2.
