LAHORE, Sept 14: The Punjab government is considering to introduce a law to give uniformity to the terms and conditions of all development projects to be completed on a built-operate-transfer basis.

This was stated by Planning and Development chairman Humayun Farshori at a news conference here on Sunday.

“There is no such arrangement so far, and the government is settling different terms and conditions for various projects,” he said.

Mr Farshori said the law would be ready for approval by the cabinet by October this year. It would cover all aspects of the BOT projects like their completion, term for operation by the financers, besides the conditions under which the projects would be transferred to the government.

There was no arrangement so far to make the financers transfer the projects to the government in running condition. The law would make the financers to maintain projects like roads till the end of the term of their operation, saving the government from the hassle of rebuilding them for public utility. —Staff Reporter
