GUJRANWALA, Sept 14: Relatives of the prisoners of central jail and other visitors have accused the contractors running shops on jail premises of overcharging, and demanded an inquiry against the authorities concerned.
They held a meeting here on Saturday to discuss the issue and pointed out that sugar was being sold at the rate of Rs28 per kilogram on jail premises as against its open market priceof Rs19 per kilogram, onions at Rs15 per kg instead of Rs6, gram at Rs32 per kg instead of Rs20 per kg, Mong at Rs50 per kg instead of Rs28 per kg, Mash at Rs55 per kg instead Rs35, chilli powder at Rs80 per kg instead of Rs60 per kg and rice at Rs40 per kg instead of Rs30.
