ISLAMABAD, Dec 21: The district administration Islamabad has taken strict measures to discourage fund raising and collection of donation in the Capital.

The district magistrate, Islamabad, Tariq Mehmood Khan, on Friday, in exercise of powers conferred on him under section 144 CrPC strictly prohibited the collection of donations in the Capital, the order said.

The order, issued in pursuance of the law ministry’s notification, has been enforced with immediate effect for a period of two months. In case of violation, action would be taken against the violators in the court of magistrates under CrPC 1898.

Meanwhile, the Defence Afghanistan Pakistan Council (DAPC), a group of several religious organizations and Jihadi outfits has condemned the ban on collection of donations.

A council leader, Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi, told Dawn that Jihadi outfits and religious organizations have expressed their resentment on the ban.

He said most of the Madaris were being run through donations given by the general public.

He termed the restriction as a part of the US policy being implemented in Pakistan to crush Jihadi powers.

“These Jihadi groups are safeguarding the territorial limits and ideology of Pakistan and if they are crushed today, rulers will face similar consequences tomorrow,” he feared.

He was of the view that ban would weaken the no-going freedom movement in the Indian-held Kashmir in which not only activists of Jihadi outfits but thousands of innocent Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives.
