He was speaking as chief guest at the Second Grand Convocation of Liaquat National School of Physical Therapy.
Among others, chief minister’s health advisor, vice-chancellor, Karachi University, president of the governing body and members of LNH Board of Governors were also present on the occasion.
The governor noted that the LNH had around 30 departments in different disciplines of medicine, surgery and basic medical sciences, that had structured training programmes for postgraduate examinations like MCPS, FCPS, MRCP and FRCS and said that the successful students were expected to lead others in health care systems, teaching and training.
He observed that the LNH had fully developed School of Nursing, School of Physical Therapy and Schof Diagnostic Laboratory Sciences, all affiliated with the KU and government recognized teaching and training programmes.
Addressing the graduating students, Dr Ibad said that learning was a personal challenge, and for them (students) the ceremony marked the completion of studies and research and the beginning of fresh challenges.
Expressing hope that graduates from the Liaqat National School of Physical Therapy would serve the country with utmost dedication, he said that since its inception in 1991, the School at the Liaquat National Hospital had produced 300 graduates, while presently 160 students were at various levels of their studies.
Observing that department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation caters to the medical needs of about 50,000 patients per year, Mr Ibad noted that the Liaquat National Hospital had been serving the city for over last 50 years, and was one of the largest and proficient private sector hospitals of the country.—APP
