Key commander of Darra Adamkhel Taliban killed in Peshawar clash: ISPR

PESHAWAR: At least five militants including a key commander were killed on Saturday in a clash between security forces and militants in Bazargari area in the Frontier Region of Peshawar.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the clash took place near the town of Darra Adam Khel, leaving five militants, including key commander Mustafa alias Manan of Darra Adamkhel Taliban, dead.

Mustafa is reportedly a brother of Umar Mansoor — the alleged mastermind of the Peshawar school massacre.

Two security personnel were also injured in the clash.

The bodies of the militants, which were later shown to media, also included Hidayatur Rehman alias Saleem, who was wanted for clashes with security forces in Frontier Regions and surrounding areas.

20 suspected militants killed in Khyber airstrikes

At least 20 militants were killed Saturday in jet fighter strikes in different parts of Khyber's Tirah Valley, official sources said.

The latest airstrikes come as the army has escalated its offensive against local and foreign militants in the northwestern tribal region.

The escalation comes in the wake of the recent attack on Peshawar's Army Public School that killed over 140 people - most of them children.

With the deadly Taliban attack on Peshawar's Army Public School, the army offensive against militants appears to be gearing up after the country's political and military leadership agreed on a full-blown operation.

Two militants, two policemen killed in Charsadda

At least two suspected militants and two policemen were killed on Saturday in the Saro Kalley area of Charsadda district, sources said.

According to official sources, after receiving a tip-off about the presence of suspects, security personnel carried out an operation in the Badi Kor area of Saro Kalley.

During the operation, a gunbattle erupted in which two militants and two policemen were killed.

Two policemen were also injured during the operation. The injured policemen were shifted to a hospital.
