KARACHI, Dec 21: PIA chartered two aircraft of the Turkmenistan Airlines on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr and airlifted from Karachi about 100 tons relief goods, including 2000 tents, for Afghanistan.
The relief goods had been bought in Islamabad under the UN relief programme for Afghan families who had become shelterless during bombardment against terrorism in Afghanistan by the US-led allied forces.
In view of a harsh winter, the PIA cargo services ensured its timely delivery by deploying staff during Eid holidays.
The tents were to be flown to Herat, but due to transport problem, the cargo was flown to Ashkabad from where it was transported by road to Herat.
