ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will install a sewage treatment plant at sector I-16 for better disposal of solid waste and to ensure clean atmosphere.

In a written reply to a question raised during National Assembly session, interior minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat said the project would take two years for completion after the award of construction contract.

He said the preliminary work for engagement of consultants to design the scheme was underway.

It will be the second sewage treatment plant in the capital. The first one was installed with the assistance of the French government, and after the completion of its fourth phase in Sector I-9, the CDA will be able to get additional 20 million gallons per day water.

However, the treated water can only be used for watering lawns, and washing cars and floors, a source said.
