KARACHI: 2 persons die in accident

KARACHI, Dec 21: Two coach passengers died and 10 others were injured when a passenger coach collided head on with a truck on National Highway near Gharo on Friday.

The highway at the place of accident was blocked for some time which caused tension in the area. The police reached the spot and controlled the situation.

The coach was on its way to Thatta while the truck was coming from the opposite direction.

The injured were taken to a hospital where two of them died. They had not been identified till our going to the press.

An unidentified man was run over by Zakariya Express near Cantt railway station while walking across the railway tracks.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem, where doctors said that the victim was in his 60s.

KILLED: Unidentified assailants shot a young man to death on Super Highway on Friday.

The police said that Asadullah, aged 28, an Afghan national, was shot dead near Indus Plaza. He was driving a yellow cab, when unidentified armed men intercepted him, and they pulled him out of the vehicle and shot him to death, said a duty officer at the area police station. His body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that the killing might be the result of personal enmity. No one had been arrested till our going to the press.

CARJACKING: Ten vehicles — five cars and an equal number of motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, the police said.

The cars were hijacked in Garden, Gulshan-i-Iqbal (two), Jamshed Quarters, and Joharabad.

The motorcycles were stolen in Darakhshan, Artillery Maidan, Sharea Faisal, Sir Syed Town, and TPX.
