SWABI, Sept 11: The NWFP government has approached the Japanese government for financing the Kundal Dam project in the mountainous belt of Gadoon Amazai.
Sources in the irrigation department told this correspondent on Thursday that the dam would be constructed on the Qadra stream.
The cost of the project is expected to be low because of the mountains surrounding the site which was selected after extensive consultations five years back.
The mountains would be exploited when the storage portion of the dam would be built, they added.
The director-general of the Small Dams Organization said the project had been offered to the government of Japan for funding, sources said.
Talking to this correspondent, the Nazim of Pabini union council urged the government to accelerate its efforts for getting aid from Japan or some other country.
