LANDI KOTAL, Sept 11: Two men, kidnapped from Gulberg, Lahore on Aug 11, were recovered from illegal confinement in Bakakhel area of the Bara tehsil late Wednesday night.

Shoeb Ahmed Gul and Farman were recovered on the intervention of the Tanzim-i-Ittehad Afridi Peace Committee, which took into custody Mohammad Said, Munawar and Umardaraz, who had kidnapped the two men in a dispute over monetary matter with Chaudhry Gulzar Ahmad, father of Mr Shoeb.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs1 million for the release of the two men, who were kept for 31 days in illegal confinement at the residence of one Arbabkhel in the Sipah area.

Mr Shoeb’s father had contacted the Tanzim-i-Ittehad Afridi through the Khyber Agency Amir of the Jamaat-i-Islami Maulana Abdul Wadood after receiving the demand for ransom.

Members of the peace committee, after finding clues about the whereabouts of the kidnapped persons, raided the house of Arbabkhel on Wednesday night.

Umardaraz was later handed over to political authorities in Malakand division as he belonged to Chakdara while the other two men, belonging to the Zakhakhel tribe, would be punished according to tribal customs.

The committee also decided to torch the house of Arbabkhel for assisting abductors.
