LAHORE, Sept 10: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is considering many options for getting a suitable piece of land for building FIFA’s Goal Project.
Secretary, PFF, Arshad Khan Lodhi said on Wednesday that “We are in search of a piece of land at a suitable place to build a modern football house project”.
He said one of the options was to approach the Punjab Government for getting a piece of land in Nishter Park Sports Complex, the hub of sports activities, near Punjab Stadium.
“ That place suits us as all the sports arenas are there and most importantly Punjab Stadium is there which is being used for football activities and close to such facilities a Goal House project can serve the purpose”, he maintained.
FIFA has already allocated a grant of US$1m for the building of the facility. The grant will be released in phases. The project will be having a modern football academy and allied facilities.
“We know we are already late as the project has been delayed but we are now committed to complete it at all costs not to waste the grant being given by FIFA”, he said.
Lodhi said former secretary, PFF, Hafiz Salman Butt has not yet put up his request to the general council for waiving off remaining two years ban, out of a ten year ban imposed by former regime of the PFF headed by Mian Muhammad Azhar.—APP
