Shutdown to be a peaceful protest: PTI

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has said its call to block cities will be a peaceful protest in line with the party’s movement going on in Islamabad.

After revising the decision to shutdown Lahore on the date announced earlier, the PTI spokesman said the party would muster up support of all segments of society in Lahore to successfully block the city.

Responding to whether PTI chief Imran Khan did not know the Jamaatud Dawa was holding its public gathering in the city on Dec 4 and 5, the spokesman said the chairman was speaking on the basis of input from the party’s provincial president.

Meanwhile, in a statement, PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry said party workers and supporters would voluntarily block roads in the city. He said the chairman would request masses to make the protest movement successful to oust the government.

Chaudhry would visit all districts in the province to participate and attempt to shutdown the country on Dec 18.
