HYDERABAD, Sept 10: The All Sindh Teachers Association (ASTA) has threatened to launch a protest movement against the builders’ mafia, which was trying to take over the possession of a large number of educational institutions for commercial purpose.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the secretary, ASTA, Qazi Aminuddin, said that the builders’ mafia was trying to take over the possession of old and reputed educational institutions of Hyderabad such as the Muslim High School (Cloth Market), Seth Kamaluddin Primary and Secondary School, Al-Farooq High School (Resham Galli), Jamia Arabia High School (Tilak Chari), Qazi Akbar Boys Primary School (Holmstead Hall), Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Higher Secondary School (Pacca Qila) and Government High School (Society-I).

He said the builders’ mafia intended to raise shopping centres by encroaching upon the school property, which will never be tolerated.

He demanded that the government take notice of the designs of builders’ mafia and protect the educational institutions of Hyderabad and save the future of thousands of male and female students.

He specially appealed to the Sindh governor, the chief minister and education minister to give their personal attention to this sensitive issue and protect the educational institutions from the greed of the builders’ mafia.

STBB: The chairman, Sindh Textbook Board, Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi, announced on Wednesday that the Board has published the first-year Biology book according to the new syllabus which has been made available in the market.

In a statement he said that this book (2003-2004) has to be taught during the current year as the biology paper for the next examination would be set from this book.

He has advised biology teachers of all the colleges of Sindh to teach this book to their students.
