PESHAWAR, Sept 9: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday disposed of a contempt of court application filed against Hazara police after the court was informed that doctors, against whom case was registered, were granted pre-arrest bail by the Abbottabad district and sessions judge.

The application was filed by Waheed Khan, a servant of a lawyer, Sardar Moazam, who was tried for killing a doctor of Ayub Medical College.

After the occurrence of the incident, doctors and students of the Ayub Medical College had attacked the residence of the accused, Sardar Moazam, setting on fire his residence.

Waheed had filed a writ petition over which the high court had ordered that FIR should be registered against persons responsible besides calling for taking legal action against them.

He filed an instant contempt of court application, stating that the police had not arrested the persons responsible for the arson incident.

The SHO, Mirpur police station, Naqeebullah Khan, appeared before the bench and informed that the principal, AMC, Nazir Ahmad and 13 other doctors were granted pre-arrest bail by the district and sessions judge.

The lawyer, appearing for the petitioner, argued that four of the doctors had not acquired any pre-arrest bail but they were not arrested. The SHO informed that two of the doctors had gone abroad.

He added that the complainant should cooperate with the police for tracing out the accused in the case.

The petitioner did not press the application and it was disposed of by the bench comprising Justice Tariq pervez and Justice Qaim Jan Khan.
