'Dimagh ki dahi' comment results in anti-Shehla slogans in Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: A ruckus went under way at the Sindh Assembly on Friday when Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers began chanting slogans of "go Shehla go" in the house against Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza.

The slogans came as the deputy speaker snubbed MQM lawmaker Mohammad Hussain, using the term 'dimagh ki dahi' (yogurt of the brain) while addressing him during Tuesday's session of the house.

Raza made the comment when Hussain was trying to submit a motion but was rudely interrupted by her.

When the session started today, MQM lawmaker Kamran Jafri demanded that the deputy speaker apologise for the inappropriate remark made during Tuesday’s session. Soon after this, MQM lawmakers started chanting slogans of “go Shehla go” in the house.

Raza, who appeared unfazed, as MQM lawmakers continued with their sloganeering also offered water as well as lassi (a local drink made from yogurt) to the opposition members. This didn’t seem to help as MQM lawmakers continued chanting slogans against the deputy speaker.
