SUKKUR, Dec 20: The Sindh Food Department workers under the banner of Food Employees Workers Federation (FEWF) observed token hunger strike in front of the press club here on Thursday to press for the acceptance of their demands and threatened to continue hunger strike till death if the demands were not met.
Talking to the protesters FEWF joint secretary Yar Mohammad Khoso said if the government did not made the temporary watchmen permanent, did not give them new pay scale of Rs1870, the children of retired and the deceased watchmen were not provided jobs, the vacancies of watchmen were not filled by permanent appointment of temporary watchmen, the workers of Sindh Food Department would observe fast unto death.
KILLED: Two persons were killed in two separate incidents near Garhi Khairo and Kashmore on Thursday.
According to reports, two armed persons barged into the house of Abdul Qadir Sanani in village Mevo Khan Sanani nearGarhi Khairo and sprayed bullets on him while he was sleeping.
As a result he died on the spot and the killers fled.
Police sources claimed that the killing was the result of old enmity.
In another incident, a youth, Mohammad Hashim Behalkani, was shot dead by three armed men in village Mohammad Jakhrani near Kashmore.
The police arrested Mohammad Amin on the charge of murder.
The killing is said to be on the pretext of Karo-kari. However, the father of the deceased, Mohammad Hasan Behalkani, told newsmen that they had no enmity with anyone and his son was innocent.
BODY: The police found the body of a drug addict identified as Ghous Bukhsh Lashari near a cotton factory in Mirpur Mathelo area.
Police sources said that Lashari died of excessive intake of some narcotic.
FIRE: A fire broke out was in Tayyaba a general store in Rohri on Wednesday night and turned several things, including deep freezer and two telephone sets, to ashes. The cause of fire could not be known.
