MULTAN, Dec 20: The new pay scale formulated by the government should be revised as it offer nothing much to low scale teachers.
This was demanded by local Punjab Teachers’ Union (PTU) president Rana Aslam Saghar in a meeting here on Thursday.
The PTU chief said the organizations should be informed about the fate of teachers who might not succeed in the examination following refresher courses.
He said the teachers were concerned about refresher courses. He urged the authorities concerned to formulate service rules for the elementary English teachers and to grant selection grade and promotion to the deserving teachers at the secondary school level.
It was demanded in a resolution that the authority to appoint and transfer teachers should rest with the education officers and not with district Nazims.
The meeting also demanded that true representatives of teachers should be given preference in educational committees to yield better results.
KILLERS: Shujaabad City police have yet to arrest the culprits who killed a woman 13 days ago.
Manzoor said his two nephews Mukhtar and Allah Wassaya had stayed in his house in Mauza Sikandarabad near Shujaabad on Dec 7. He said his nephews went missing the next day and he found her daughter Shahida dead.
He said her grave was exhumed as it was suspected that she had been killed. Scars of torture were found on the woman’s neck. Then they moved to the court as police refused to register the case, he added.
Police have registered a case against accused Mukhtar and Wassaya on the orders of the court.—Nouman
