MANSEHRA: The residents of Sari Goryal area in Oghi have demanded of the high-ups of police to launch an operation against outlaws, involved in theft and robberies in the area.

“We want a police operation in our area to control robberies and other crimes as organised crimes and robberies are taking place every day in the area,” Mohammad Rafique, a local elder, told a press conference in Oghi on Thursday.

A large number of the residents of the area, led by Mr Rafique and Malik Khanzaman, told journalists that police had failed to provide protection to them against the outlaws, who were committing robberies for the last many months in the area.

“We first of all established identity of the people involved in robberies and other crimes and then informed police about it but we are still awaiting police to take strict action against the gangsters,” said Mr Khanzaman.

He said that besides routine crimes, the gangsters were also involved in taking away cattle and herds from the cattle pens of the villagers.

The residents of Sari Goryal demanded of the deputy inspector general of police to order an operation against criminals in their area to make it free of crime.
