Four killed in attack

LARKANA, Sept 2: Four people, including three bystanders, were killed and one person was seriously injured when the members of an opponent party opened indiscriminate fire on their rival in the jurisdiction of the Dari police station on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said that the assailants, who were in a car, opened indiscriminate fire on a member of their opponent group, Gul Mohammad Abro, who was sitting in the Lahooti Restaurant, Allahabad Mohalla. As a result of the firing, Gul Mohammad Abro and a customer, Feroz Ali Soomro, died on the spot, while three pedestrians were wounded.

Later, two of the injured succumbed to their injuries at the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana. They were identified as Manzoor Chinjni and Naveed Chinjni, 12.

The third person who was injured has been identified as Riaz Tunio.

The incident is said to be the result of an on-going feud between two groups of Abro tribesmen of the Baqapur village. So far 12 people have been killed in the tribal dispute.

Soon after the incident, the armed members of the victim, Gul, attacked the Baqapur village with sophisticated weapons.

Later, the police arrested 16 people and recovered three rockets, a Kalashnikov, a repeater and a rifle in a siege and search operation from the Baqapur village.

Larkana DPO Abdul Sattar Detho, who monitored the entire operation, said that the village had been cordoned off.
