KARACHI, Aug 30: Pakistan’s fast-rising short corner specialist Syed Imran Ali Warsi will be returning home from Malaysia after sustaining a rib injury while training for the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) knock-out stage in Kuala Lumpur last week.
Warsi was ruled out of action from the knockout stage of the MHL and it was a big blow to defending champions Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).
Warsi is their top scorer with 15 goals and main penalty corner striker. He sustained a cracked rib in training and he was told by the National Sports Institute’s (NSI) director, Dr Ramlan Aziz, that he needed to take a rest for at least two weeks. The MHL final is slated for Sept 7.
A heart-broken Imran now wants to return to Pakistan as soon as possible and BSN have agreed to release him immediately.—PPI
