Ex-PTV GM Nayyar Nadeem dies

KARACHI: Nayyar Nadeem, noted PTV veteran and poet, passed away late on Monday night after a protracted illness at a local hospital. He was 70.

His family members said he was suffering from various illnesses and had been admitted to the hospital.

He was buried in the Wadi-i-Hussain graveyard on Tuesday.

He is survived by a widow and three sons.

Nayyar Nadeem was born in Bulandshahr, UP, in 1944. He was just six when his parents migrated to Karachi.

He did his postgraduate studies at Karachi University and joined the Pakistan Television as a producer.

Mr Nadeem got fame for having a knack for local and global affairs programmes.

He retired from the PTV as a general manager of its current affairs division.

He was a distinguished poet and died when a collection of his poetry was about to be published.

He wrote a dozen of books on religion and famous personalities of Islam.
