HYDERABAD, July 23: The district Nazim, Hyderabad, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, has demanded that the Sindh government immediately approve the Summary for New Establishment (SNE) for 25 hospitals established in the district so that health facilities could be provided to the people.

He demanded this while addressing the Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors of union councils of Tando Mohammad Khan Taluka at its office on Wednesday.

Expressing concern over the non-approval of SNE for 25 hospitals, he said that it was not only depriving the people of their basic right to health facilities but huge investments made towards these schemes were also being wasted.

Responding to complaints aired by the Nazims of various union councils against the medical superintendent, Taluka Hospital, Tando Muhammad Khan, the district Nazim warned the medical superintendent to get all three ambulances repaired within the shortest possible time, failing which action would be taken against him.

He said that the district government has planned to provide ambulances to each health centre of the district in phases.

He asked the EDO, health, to submit a report about functional and non-functional ambulances available in the district so that all non-functional ambulances could be repaired and sent to the other centres.

The district Nazim stressed upon the Nazims of union councils to supervise the on-going polio eradication campaign and to ensure that each child upto 5 years of age was vaccinated.

Responding to complaints against embezzlement in the funds of School Management Committees, the district Nazim directed the EDO, education, to submit a report about the utilization of all SMC funds, and added that they would be verified by the Nazims of the union councils concerned.

He directed the revenue authorities to collect the data of loss of lives and property due to the recent rainfall so that compensation could be ensured to the affected people as per government policy.

He announced a financial package of Rs25,000 for each press club of the Taluka headquarters of Hyderabad district in addition to Rs500,000 for the Hyderabad Press Club.
