HARIPUR, July 22: A newly-wed young bride on Sunday night slit the throat of her bridegroom the very first night of their wedding over an unknown dispute in a north eastern village of Kohala Paeen Khanpur, some 35kms from the district headquarters, police said.
The victim was shifted to hospital where he was stated to be in critical condition while the accused who reportedly confessed her crime and was sent to jail.
Family sources said that Jehandad son of Ali Zaman married one Tasleem Akhtar 18 of the same village on Sunday.
On Monday morning when the couple did not turn up for breakfast, some women of the family opened the room on getting where they found Jehandad, the bridegroom, lying unconscious with his neck slit.
The family members got hold of the bride and shifted the injured Jehandad to Heavy Industries Taxila hospital where the doctors termed his condition serious.
The bride later confessed her crime before the Khanpur police station and contended that both had a scuffle before she attacked him in the neck with sharp object. She was later sent to Haripur jail.
