KOHAT, Dec 19: The district Zakat committee, at its meeting presided over by Chairman Omar Baksh Awan, has sanctioned Rs2.87 million for distribution among 189 needy people to enable them to establish their businesses.
The chairman was informed that cheques under various categories had been distributed among 30 people and the remaining funds would be disbursed in amounts of Rs5,000 to Rs50,000 depending on the conditions and requirements of the needy.
He directed the staff to select genuinely needy people and keep him informed about the progress of the rehabilitation program.
He asked the Tehsil and Mohalla committees chairmen to submit the received applications at the district Zakat office at the earliest.
RELIEF GOODS: The NWFP Millat Party leaders distributed five truckloads of relief goods among 1,800 Afghan refugee families at the Ghulam Banda camp.
The items, including quilts, ghee, wheat, flour and rice, were distributed by the provincial party president, Tariq Hamayun, provincial coordination secretary, Shahbaz Shinwari, Kohat chapter president, Haji Islam, and secretary-general Aman Khan.
