LAHORE, July 21: A large-scale transfers of police officials would soon be initiated in a bid to improve the working and image of the force.
This was stated by Punjab IGP Syed Masud Shah on Monday. He was talking to newsmen at the stone-laying ceremony of the first police patrol post at Mohlanwal on Multan Road.
The IGP said such transfers were necessary to shift those officials who had been posted at certain police stations for the past several years in various cities.
“We also intend to bring in fresh blood through these transfers by bringing officials from other parts of the province,” he said, and added: “You will witness a big change in the entire province.”
The IGP said in order to improve the performance of police stations, punitive actions would be taken against the officials who fail to discharge their responsibilities in a proper manner.
“Any police officer found guilty of registering a false FIR would be taken to task. He could either be suspended or terminated from service. Action would also be initiated against his immediate boss,” the IGP said.—APP
