MIRPURKHAS, July 21: The residents of the city have demanded anti-mosquito and fly spray as stagnant rain water has proved to be a breeding ground for the insects.

The rain and gutter water is standing in many parts of the city, including Hameedpura 1, 2 and 3, Lalchandabad, Baloch Paro, Toorabad, Dholanabad, Pak Colony, Ghosia Colony, Basheerabad, Nawab Colony, M.A. Jinnah Road, Station Road, New Town, Nai Paro, Lal Paro, Sir Syed Road, Mir-jo—Plot, Hirabad, Bhansinghabad and Mir Allah Bachayo Colony.

The residents said standing water was providing breeding grounds for flies and mosquitoes.

NAZIM: Mirpurkhas District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani distributed scholarship cheques among 136 children of the district council employees at the Bhitai Cultural Hall here on Saturday. Each student was given a cheque of Rs735.

Speaking on the occasion, the Nazim assured that he would move the Sindh government for regularizing the services of temporary employees of the district council.

He also assured that repairs work of the Staff Colony would be soon started.

PARAMEDICS: Chairman, Paramedical Staff Association, Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital unit, Nazeer Ahmed Detho, has demanded that the salary of the hospital workers should be increased.

Speaking at a ceremony, held here on Saturday to distribute dresses among the staff, he said the association was striving hard to get grievances of the staffers redressed. The civil surgeon, Dr Faqeer Mohammad Baloch, appreciated the services of the paramedical staff.
