Indus changes course

DADU, July 20: The River Indus changed its direction near here on Sunday as a result of which 350 feet of the J-spur, near the Dadu-Moro bridge, was washed away.

The irrigation department has started dumping stones and other anti-flood control material on the spur.

The river changing its course may prove to be dangerous for the villages along the Dadu-Moro road and Dadu city because this point is at a distance of only six kilometres from here.

During a visit of the site by this correspondent, the executive engineer, Rohri division, irrigation, Manzoor Ahmed Magsi, said that 100 people were deployed in two shifts at the J-spur point to stop the supply of water at the affected place.
