KHAIRPUR: Music show held in Khairpur jail

KHAIRPUR, Dec 19: On the occasion of Eidul Fitr, a music show was arranged here in the central jail Khairpur in which local singers entertained the prisoners who forgot the woes of imprisonment for a while.

The programme was also attended by Khairpur District Nazim Syeda Nafisa Shah and SSP Abdul Khaliq Shaikh.

After the music show, the prisoners complained against the prison administration particularly the jail superintendent Nusrat Agha.

They told the district Nazim and SSP that some of the prisoners had been arrested on the behest of landlords. They added that there was one such prisoner against whom an FIR was registered while he was in the jail.

Ms Shah assured the inmates that they would be given proper medical treatment and free medicines while the SSP told them that those suffering due to police injustice would be compensated.

RALLY: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) Thari Mirwah staged a protest rally on the Eid day against the arrest of its chairman, Basheer Khan Qureshi, and his deputy, Dr Niaz Kalani.

The JSQM activists took out a rally in Thari Mirwah town which ended at Fazil Rahu Chowk.

The protesters chanted slogans against the arrest of the JSQM leaders and the influx of Afghan refuges in Sindh. They demanded immediate release of the party leaders and ban on the entry of Afghan refugees in the province.

KIDNAPPED: Two villagers were kidnapped by bandits and later rescued by police on Monday night near Baburloi of taluka Khairpur.

Ghulam Ishaque and another villager, residents of village Noor Mohammad Bugti, were kidnapped by some unidentified armed men when they were going to their village on a motorcycle.

On receiving the information police followed the kidnappers who left the hostages and escaped with their motorcycle.

BURNT: A 26-year-old Hindu trader, Krishan Lal son of Kanhya Lal, resident of Pir jo Goth, taluka Kingri, was burnt to death on Tuesday night.

He caught fire while lighting a gas stove and was badly burnt.

He was taken to a hospital in Sukkur in a critical state but could not survive.

PYE DOG: Two men, Ali Nawaz Solangi and Papoo Solangi, were bitten by a pye dog in village Solangi near Pir jo Goth on Wednesday.

They were admitted to Khairpur Civil Hospital.
