HYDERABAD, Dec 19: In order to promote tourism and attract tourists to visit historical and archaeological sites in the province, the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) has decided to hold a seminar at the Keenjhar Lake, Thatta District, on Jan 7, 2002.

This was stated by the managing director, STDC, M. Ishaque Lashari, who was presiding over a meeting at the Keenjhar Lake the other day.

The meeting reviewed arrangements for the seminar, which will be inaugurated by the Sindh governor.

Mr Lashari claimed that the future of tourism in Sindh was very bright and all that was required to be done was to draw the attention of the tourists to the historical places of the province.

He said that a calendar would also be published on the occasion of the seminar for international tourists providing them useful information about the historical and archaeological sites, recreational spots, national heritage, and festivals, etc. A tourist guide will also be inaugurated on the occasion.

He further said that renowned scholars would read papers in the seminar on various subjects and an exhibition would also be organized at Keenjhar Lake to introduce handicrafts of Sindh.

Those who attended the meeting included the director, Sindh archives, Kaleem Lashari, the manager, tour promotion, PIA, Zamir Alam Ansari, the chairman, the Pakistan Hotel Association, Syed Arshad Ali, the management consultant, T. R. Kazmi, and Prof Ashiq Arbani of the department of fine arts, Sindh University.
