Model Town tribunal judge receives death threat

LAHORE: Justice Ali Baqar Najafi received a death threat on Saturday through a letter demanding closure of the Lahore’s Model Town case, DawnNews reported.

The letter categorically asked for a withdrawal of the case and threatened to kill Justice Baqar and his family.

On receipt of the threat, the security for the protection of Justice Baqar was increased, with additional personnel of the elite force also deployed at the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Justice Baqar was serving as a judicial commission judge which was formulated to investigate into the incident where Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters broke into a clash with police.

The incident had resulted in the death of 11 people, whereas more than 100 people were injured.

Moreover, during a trial on courts security a few days before, Justice Anwarul Haq also admitted of receiving death threats from militants.
